Don was born on December 7, 1926, in Arlington, TX to Coy and Edna Davis Butler. He married Anne Rie Smith on May 2, 1947, in Borger, TX. He was the manager of an oil company parts manufacturing company, was in the US Navy, and was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Calvin Durham officiating. Burial followed in Nocona Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Jerry Woods Funeral Home.

Don is survived by his wife, Anne Butler of Springfield, MO, daughter, Delinda McCarty of Houston, TX, brother, Dan Butler of Hollister, MO, three grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
