Avis F. Robertson, 89, died on November 13, 2020 in Nocona, TX. He was born on October 29, 1931 in Hale Center, TX to William & Claudia Brown Robertson. He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Donna Donnell, on December 21, 1950 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Avis worked in the lumber yard in Hale Center, and after moving to Colorado in 1951, he went to work at the lumberyard there, which naturally got him interested in the construction business. He eventually brought the family to Texas in 1961. He was a General Contractor most of his life, but also loved raising cattle and even goats at one time. He was a very good carpenter and could build anything with his hands. You can see his work on many of the buildings around Nocona. Avis and Donna loved to travel together. They would visit their siblings all over the United States. In the summer of 1996, they went to visit some friends in South Fork, Colorado. They loved it so much they purchased 3 lots before heading back to Texas. The following summer of 1997, they began their next adventure of building their beloved cabin. Their boys went up throughout that summer to help build and bring materials. Avis and Donna would escape the Texas heat and head to the cabin every spring but would return in time for the holidays. Avis was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church & Jean’s Men’s Bible Class in Nocona. Avis is survived by his children, Randall Robertson & wife Debbie of Bastrop, TX, Gary Robertson & wife Bonnie of Spanish Fort, TX, daughter in law, Marvi Robertson of Nocona, TX, Duane Robertson & wife Karen of Nocona, TX, 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Donna Robertson, son, Terry Don Robertson and granddaughter, Stephanie Odneal. There will be a graveside service on Monday, November 16, 2020 at 1 P.M. at Nocona Cemetery with Rev. Dave Woodbury officiating. Memorial donations can be made to American Cancer Society & Relay for Life.
