Robert Lynn McGaughey, 66, passed away on February 13, 2021 at his home in Nocona, TX. McGaughey was born on March 10, 1954, in Nocona, the son of William Arnold McGaughey and Francis Crownover McGaughey. He was the grandson of Jack & Martha Crownover, longtime residents of Montague County. He is survived by his brother, Jack McGaughey and wife Darlene of Nocona, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and by his dog and companion, Daisey. Robert attended schools in Nocona, and graduated from Nocona High School in 1972. He was active in the Nocona High School Band and FFA. Robert attended the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a BBA in Finance in 1976. During college, he was a member of the University of Texas Longhorn Marching Band. Following college, Robert worked for the First National Bank of Nocona and for Joseph A. Banks Men’s Clothiers, before devoting full time to managing the farm and ranch known as Crownover Farms with his grandfather, Jack Crownover. He continued to do so following the deaths of his grandparents for some years. He retired to settle at 104 Wise St., Nocona, TX in his last years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Nocona, Texas and the Nocona Masonic Lodge#753 A.F. & A.M. throughout his life. Robert is remembered for his cooking ability and for his numerous acts of kindness and friendship over his lifetime. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel at 2 P.M. with Rev. Dave Woodbury officiating under the direction of Jerry Woods Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Lucky Paws Animal Shelter in Nocona, TX.
