Mr. M. F. Cochran, head of the grocery firm of Cochran & Son, of this city, and one of our most highly respected citizens, answered the death summons on Tuesday afternoon, February 19, at the family residence, after a lingering illness covering a period of several weeks, during which time he suffered intensely but patiently, exhibiting the same quiet peaceful disposition that had characterized his entire life. Mr. Cochran was a Georgian by birth, having been born in Camilia, that state, on August 10th, 1851. Funeral services were held at the residence at 8 o’clock yesterday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. W. Holman, in the presence of a large number of sorrowing relatives and friends, after which the remains were followed by a large concourse to their last resting place in the City Cemetery. Another good citizen has answered the call of his Maker and the News trusts that his soul will rest in peace throughout the ceaseless ages of eternity in that beautiful city where all is peace and love.
