Ellis “Pete” Horton Jr., 76, died on August 14, 2022 in Dallas, TX surrounded by his family. He was born on May 16, 1946 in Gainesville, TX to Ellis Horton Sr. and Doris Minshew Horton.

 Pete worked in the oilfield most of his life doing many jobs until later becoming an entrepreneur in the field. He married the love of his life Barbara Keck on May 21, 1965 in Nocona. Pete loved the community of Nocona and was a huge supporter of the town. He was a classic car aficionado and played a big role in the Mardi Gras parade in Nocona. Most of all Pete loved his family and was always there to support them.

 He is survived by his wife, Barbara Horton of Nocona, TX, daughters, Jana & husband Bill Maroney of Wichita Falls, TX, Sugie & husband Jody Teague of Nocona, TX, Brandy Horton & special friend Richard Reeves of Nocona, TX, sister, Nancy Fenoglio of Nocona, TX, brothers, Charlie Horton of McComb, MS, Sam Horton of Decatur, TX, 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother John Horton.

 There will be a visitation on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 from 6 – 7 P.M. at Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel in Nocona. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at 2 P.M. at The Veranda Inn in Nocona, TX. A private family interment will follow. Pallbearers will be Garrett Lemon, Carter Lemon, Matthew Maroney, Tommy Greene, Jody Teague, Richard Reeves, Cris Lemon and Dan Fenoglio. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sam Hill, Robert Fenoglio, Tommy Fenoglio, Joey Sotomayor, Steve Ross, James Painter, and Doug Irvin. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Lucky Paw’s Animal Shelter in Nocona.
